Adele Florence Zander Smith

Adele Smith, 95, passed away peacefully on Dec 11 at Chestnut Ridge Nursing Home in Cumming, GA. She was born in Charleston on July 14, 1917 the daughter of the late Charles H. Zander, Sr. and the late Angie Johnson Zander. Ms. Smith was preceded in death by her children, Clarence Paul Smith and Doris Anne Harrington. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Mary (Smith) Borg, 3 grandchildren - Angie McLendon (Jeff), Tim Hilton (Tracy) and Tiffany Schebich (Greg) plus four great-grandchildren, a brother Paul Zander, a sister Angie Robertson, numerous nieces and nephews. Ms. Smith was a long-time resident of South Windermere where she owned and managed a soda fountain, restaurant and catering services. Family and friends knew her as a loving mother and as a beautiful, strong woman who enjoyed horses, dancing and being with her family. A memorial service will be held at 3pm on Friday, December 21, 2012 at Johns Island Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in Adeles memory to Johns Island Presbyterian Church, 2550 Bohicket Road, Johns Island, SC 29455.
