Alfred "Freddy" Louis Fonzo

Alfred “Freddy” Louis Fonzo, 56, of Gainesville, GA passed away on November 20, 2024. Freddy was born in New York but has resided at Lake Lanier since 2000. Emersed in the lake life, Freddy was an avid boater and loved all water sports. He was a long-term Board member for Lanier Partners of N GA and helped organize the Lanier Pirates Poker Run, an annual and popular children’s charity fundraising event. Freddy was an Executive in the restaurant business for many years. Applebee’s, Up the Creek, Macaroni Grill and Zoe’s Kitchen all benefitted from his expertise. He enjoyed travelling and living the outdoor life of fishing, hunting, boating, skiing and knee boarding with his sons. With many nephews and nieces, Uncle Freddy could always be counted on to join in with their pool play. Freddy was an amazing friend, husband and father to his two sons and will be deeply missed by all.

Freddy is survived by his wife, Melissa, his two sons, Jackson and Alexander, mother, Kathy Bedard (Jim Turner), brother, Scott Fonzo, and his many extended family members of Buddy and Jan Adams and Sherwood and September Carter. He also leaves behind cherished “almost family” friends Charlie Alig, Ben Alig, Charly Ann Alig Smith (Ethan) and Christa Jenkins (Liz). He was preceded in death by his father, Alfred Fonzo, sister in law, Amelia Huntsinger, and very dear friend, Kathy Alig. 

The family has requested that Freddy’s Poker Run friends wear their favorite poker run shirts or outfits to his Memorial Service and that other attendees feel free to follow Freddy’s preference for casual attire
