Ali (“Alex”) Sobh, age 76, passed away on June 7, 2026.
Alex was a beloved brother, uncle, and friend whose jolly, kind, and gentle spirit touched everyone fortunate enough to know him. Alex was known for his warm smile, genuine nature, and his ability to make anyone feel welcome and at ease.
Nothing brought Alex greater happiness than his family, especially his four brothers, who were not only his siblings but his closest friends. Together they shared a lifetime of laughter, adventures, family gatherings, and travels around the world. The strong bond they shared remained one of the greatest joys of Alex's life.
Although he never had children of his own, Alex was a second father to many of his nieces and nephews, offering them unwavering love, encouragement, guidance, and support. He celebrated their accomplishments, and stood beside them through challenges. His presence in their lives was a gift they will carry with them forever.
Born in Torreón, Coahuila, Mexico, to the late Ali and Mehive Sobh, Alex came to the United States at the age of ten. He was raised in Gary, Indiana, a city he always considered home. Alex remained deeply connected to the friendships he formed there, staying in touch with many of his childhood friends from Emerson High School (who affectionately knew him as Yamo) throughout his life. Those lifelong friendships reflect the loyalty, warmth, and genuine goodness that defined him.
Alex attended Indiana University and remained a devoted Hoosier throughout his life. Few things brought him more excitement than cheering on the Hoosiers as they captured a national championship earlier this year.
In the mid 1990s, Alex moved to Georgia to join his brother Lou after the opening of Lou's first automobile dealership. What began as a career move became another chapter in a life centered on family. Alex took great pride in helping build the family business and treasured the opportunity to work alongside his brothers every day.
Alex’s smile was constant, his heart was kind, and his love for family and friends was unconditional. He truly had a way of making every room he entered feel a little softer. But above all else, Alex will be remembered for his fierce loyalty and protective nature over his loved ones. His gentle soul and soft spirit made life lighter and he will be deeply missed.
Alex’s loss leaves an immeasurable hole in our lives, but his legacy will live on in the family he cherished, the friendships he built, and in all of those lives that were made better by knowing him.
Alex was preceded in death by his father, Ali Sobh, his mother Mehive Sobh, and his brother, Eddie Sobh (Mary). He is survived by his brothers Lou (Georgia) Sobh, Yamil (Augie) Sobh, and Ned Sobh, and the many nieces and nephews who adored him.
Visitation will be held at the Ingram Funeral Home, 210 Ingram Ave; Cumming, GA 30040 on Wednesday, June 10 from 5:00-9:00 pm and Thursday from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm.
