Anne Cooper, born September 17, 1934, in Bowden, Georgia, passed away peacefully after living a full, beautiful, and deeply meaningful life. She left this world the same way she lived in it, by her own accord, with grace, strength, humor, and unmistakable style.
Anne was one of fifteen children and the last remaining sibling of the proud Jackson family, a legacy she carried with immense pride throughout her life. Rooted in Southern charm and unwavering resilience, she built a life that reflected determination, independence, and compassion.
Long before it was common for women to lead in business, Anne carved her own path. Starting from the bottom and working her way to the top, she spent over 40 years in real estate, becoming a respected businesswoman through grit, intelligence, and relentless perseverance. She taught those around her not only how to succeed, but how to do so with integrity, generosity, and elegance.
For many years, Hilton Head was home, a place that suited her perfectly. Anne loved a good bridge game and never missed an opportunity to bring laughter into a room. She was wicked smart, endlessly sharp-witted, impeccably dressed, and often the life of the party. As many would say, the party truly started when Anne walked in.
She was the matriarch of her family, strong yet compassionate, commanding yet deeply loving. She taught by example: through her resilience, her generosity, her humor, and her remarkable ability to remain aligned with who she truly was. She carried herself with a timeless elegance reminiscent of Grace Kelly, but with a fire and wit entirely her own.
Anne often joked that one of her greatest accomplishments was surviving three marriages and famously, all three husbands were still living when she left them behind. It was exactly the kind of humor that made people adore her.
Above all, Anne loved her family fiercely. She is survived by her son, Greg Michelsen; her daughters, Lynn Eckart and Lisa Hutcherson; and her beloved grandchildren, Morgan, Sydney, and Spencer Eckart; Trevor Hutcherson; and Samantha and Sean Michelsen.
Anne was deeply loved by so many, and her absence leaves an immeasurable space in the hearts of those who knew her. But anyone who loved Anne can smile knowing she is undoubtedly arriving at heaven’s gates in style likely greeted by old friends, family, Frank Sinatra playing somewhere in the background.
A life so beautifully lived can never truly be lost. Anne Cooper leaves behind a legacy of strength, laughter, elegance, resilience, and love that will carry on through all who knew her.
