Arnold Doyle Hawkins
Born in Cliff, New Mexico on September 14, 1938, and was raised predominantly in Silver City, NM. Arnold joined the U.S. Navy in 1956 and upon completion of his service returned to Silver City. He worked at Kennecott Copper Corporation. While attending Western New Mexico University, he married Carolyn Rosemary Hawk. He graduated in 1964 and immediately started his professional career in Washington, D.C., employed with the General Accounting Office. From there the family moved to Oklahoma City for a short time. In 1968, an opportunity to move from Oklahoma to the Atlanta, GA area started Arnold on his career with the Office of Economic Opportunity and eventually with the Small Business Administration. He retired in 1994 as Regional Inspector General of the SBA covering the North Central, Southwest, and Southeast Regions.
His second “career” was as a duplicate bridge player. He achieved the level of Platinum Life Master.
His family includes his wife Carolyn, daughter Judy Coffman and her husband Tim, son Tony Hawkins and his wife Crissa Gillette, step-grandson Laughlin Gillette, granddaughter Faith Hawkins Middleton, sister Jackie Stone, and nieces and a nephew.
