On Thursday, September 12, 2024, Beatrice N. “Bea” Roper entered her heavenly home. Bea was born on December 15, 1937. She was the oldest of 12 children. She was a very strong willed and hard-working person. She loved the Lord, her family, and her friends. She supported her children in every adventure they attempted.

Bea was a hairdresser in her earlier years and later she retired from Sawnee Elementary with the Forsyth County Board of Education. She loved to work in her garden, cut grass with her John Deere mower, sew make crafts, and listening to southern gospel music. Most of all she loved spending time with her family and working hard to make a better life for herself and them.

She was preceded in death by her son Larry Smith, spouses, J.W. Smith, and Mack Roper; sisters Addie Freeman and Gail Payne, brothers Kennith and Ronnie Nichols; parents Cletus and Marjorie Buice Nichols.

Bea is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Randy and Robin Smith, her daughters and son-in-law, Cathy Smith, Robin Smith Bailey, and Jerri and Jay Baisden and her cat Pumpkin. She has 8 grandchildren, Tyler and Karen Boles, Jesse and Kristina Boles, Tara and Evan Donaldson, Marty Smith, Andrew Smith, McKenzi and Corbin Thomas, Sawyer Smith, and Grayson Smith. She also has 10 great grandchildren, Rilynn Porter, Presley Donaldson, Laci Boles, Lawson Boles, Lincoln Boles, Stella Boles, Kimber Boles, Darbi Boles, Owen Thomas, and Emerson Thomas.

She is also survived by brothers and sisters-in-law, Leland and Brenda Nichols, J.C. and Barbra Nichols, and Jerry Nichols. Sisters and brothers-in-law Shirley and Harold Jones, Frances and Clayton Sosebee, Ella Ree Johnson, and Rita Sosebee. Brothers-in-law, Jimmy Freeman and Larry Payne, sisters-in-law Jean Hood and Brenda Roper; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Hugh and Rachel Smith, Willard and Margaret Smith, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Carol and Glen Samples. Nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.

The family would like to thank Capstone Hospice for their exceptional support, love, and care.

Funeral services will be on Wednesday September 18, 2024, at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Ingram Funeral Home with Rev. David Skinner, Rev. Ricky Byrd and Rev. Eddie Treadaway officiating. The interment will follow at Sawnee View Gardens. The Family will receive friends at Ingram Funeral Home on Monday, September16, from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm, Tuesday September 17, from 10:00 am until 9:00 pm and on Wednesday from 9:00 am until the hour of service.
