Betty Lewis Alonsious, age 75, of Cumming, GA passed away on Friday, September 16, 2022, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on March 27, 1947, in Jacksonville, Florida. She worked in telecommunications for Bellsouth for more than 27 years, retiring in 1991.

Betty was predeceased by her parents Melvin L. & Edna P. Lewis, sister-in-law Jane W. Lewis and grandsons John Patrick Alonsious Jr. and Thomas Conor Burch. She is survived by her loving husband of 36 years, John Alonsious, son John Alonsious & daughter-in-law Dana of Monroe GA, daughter Bernadette Burch & son-in-law Jim of Monticello GA; grandchildren, Kevin Burch, Raegan Alonsious, Haleigh Hogsed, and Hayden Pistole, brothers; Melvin L. Lewis of Jacksonville FL, Frederick A. Lewis of Orlando FL; sister Carolyn Lewis of Blowing Rock NC; nieces, Meagan Lewis of St. Louis MO , Darlene Malowitz, and Lauren Rutherford of Jacksonville FL; nephews, Tripp Lewis, Ryan Lewis ,John Lewis, Chad Rutherford, Adam Rutherford, and Sean Rutherford of Jacksonville FL.

Betty was loved and admired by many and will long be remembered as a moving force in quilting in Forsyth County. Quilting was indeed her passion. She was a member of the Sunset Quilters Guild in Cumming and an active member in the Piecemakers Quilt Guild in Forsyth County where she held the office of president. Betty was an active member of both Bulloch Hall and East Cobb Quilt Guilds and served as an officer and member of the Georgia Quilt Council. She taught many quilt classes at the guilds and was a professional long arm quilter. Betty was extremely talented in the kitchen an enjoyed baking and preparing elaborate family meals. She had a knack for propagating & growing plants and flowers and would often share them with family and friends. A lover of all animals, she was dog mom to many over the years. Her fur babies always held a special place in her heart. Betty and husband John were members of the Sunny Peaches RV Club and since 2001 have enjoyed camping and traveling with friends across the United States.

The family will receive friends at Ingram Funeral Home in Cumming, GA on Sunday, October 2, 2022, from 2pm-5pm.

A private service will be held in Jacksonville, Florida at a later date. Interment will follow at Riverside Memorial Park in Jacksonville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Betty Alonsious to Bridgeway Hospice, 2000 Riverside Parkway, Suite 107, Lawrenceville, GA 30043.
