Betty R. Brooks, 83 years old, passed away Sunday, July 19, 2026. Betty lived in Forsyth County most of her life! She was preceded in death by her husband of twenty years, Marcus Brooks! After 20 years of marriage they divorced but she and Marcus stayed lifelong friends!
Betty was a five-time cancer survivor and was a fighter! She worked hard and raised her three boys and worked at Wilson’s (Now Tyson’s) chicken plant for many years and then Kodak for many more years until they went out of business, then she went on to retire from Ciba Vision in 2007 after her middle son was diagnosed with esophageal cancer and later passed away at 43 years old! She never got over losing him, but she knew she had to carry on for her other two boys! She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church! She would always say, I don’t question God as to why he called her son, Wayne, home and not her because she knew the Lord was in it! She loved going to Walmart and walk around for hours at a time! She got in the habit of doing this when she worked nights and went by Walmart before going home, so after she retired she still enjoyed her Walmart trips until she fell and broke her hip at the end of June 2025! While in the hospital they found she had several medical issues that she didn’t realize she had and her last diagnosis was Stage 3 kidney disease! For months on end she was seeing Primary Care Doctor, Heart Doctor, Nephrologist and Surgeon. She was finally dismissed from her Surgeon on July 15th and was so happy to be one doctor down! Betty was Granny to all her grands and greats and their significant others except she wanted to change it up a little with her youngest great grandson so she chose to be
Gi Gi to her Zeke! She loved them all with all her heart just like she loved her sons, brothers, sister and everyone she met!
In addition to her husband, Betty is preceded in death by her parents LeeRoy and Josie Fain; her son Wayne (Booger) Brooks); her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Crafton and Mary Brooks and her brothers, Roney Fain and Lee Roy Fain Jr.
Betty is survived by her sons Robert Brooks, Murrayville, Ga, and Steve Brooks, Cumming, Ga. Sister Edna Jones (Herman) Gainesville, Ga. And brother, Billy Fain, Dawsonville, Ga. Grandchildren, Katlin Boyle (Cody), Buford, Ga., Waverlee Brooks, Cumming Ga., Bobby Brooks, Cumming, Ga., Jamie Richardson and Kevin and April Payne!
