Betty Jean Gilbert

Betty Jean Gilbert of Cedar Hill, TX formerly of Atlanta, GA, died peacefully on February 1, 2024, at the age of 87 after a period of failing health.  She had a strong faith and touched the lives of all that knew her.  Betty is a lifetime member of Daves Creek Baptist Church in Cumming, GA.  She was preceded in death by her father, AJ Gilbert; mother Dorothy Faustine Gilbert; sister Evelyn Gilbert Brackett; brother Dr. Larry Gilbert and devoted friend Charles “Bud” Jackson.

Betty was born in Cumming, Georgia on December 30, 1936, where she lived until she graduated from high school.  She moved to Atlanta where she worked for the Army Airforce Exchange Service (AAFES) for over 40 years.  In her position as a Senior Buyer, she traveled and lived around the world.  After her retirement she enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family.  When she was home, she enjoyed gardening and keeping an award-winning lawn.    

Betty is survived by her brother Farish Gilbert (Sandra), sister-in-law Barbara Gilbert, seven nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, February 5, 2024, at 1 pm at Ingram Funeral Home in Cumming, GA with Dr. Scott Gilbert Officiating. Interment will follow at Sawnee View Gardens in Cumming, GA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 12:00 noon until the hour of service.
