Betty Jean Jones, 92, of Palmdale, California passed away February 21, 2026, in Alpharetta, GA. Betty was born in Big Springs, TX to the late Luther Leroy Jones and Jewell Carroll Jones. Betty spent 30+ years teaching elementary school within the Palmdale School District (Marriott and Tamarisk Elementary Schools)- with her mother (Jewell Jones) as her aide, she enjoyed impacting her students' lives. In addition to teaching, Betty was very involved in her church- singing in the choir, teaching Sunday school, treasurer and Sunday school attendant just to name a few. As a graduate of California Baptist College, Betty was active as an alumnus- always excited to return for the annual Homecoming Weekend. Betty was a kind, generous and loving woman- loved to travel, known for helping others and sharing her love for Jesus with everyone she met. In her last years, she was moved to Georgia (to be with family) while she battled dementia with dignity, grace and strength known throughout her memory care community for her love of music, her smile and her laugh. Her “signature statement” to all of her caregivers was “God Bless You”. Ms. Jones was preceded in death by her parents, Luther Leroy and Jewell Jones; siblings, Lois Martin, and Wendell Jones. She is survived by her sister, Carolyn Thompson; nieces and nephews, Keith Martin, Scott Martin, Helen Waugh, Ron Jones, Julie Edwards and Jennifer Haase., as well as numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held 3:00 pm Saturday, February 28, 2026, at Sawnee View Gardens, with Rev. Tim Price officiating.
