Betty Chadwick Martin

Betty Chadwick Martin, age 91, of Cumming, GA passed away on Saturday, November 11, 2023. She was born on March 20, 1932, to Bascomb John Chadwick and Ophie Martin Chadwick. 

Betty was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. She spent many years at home raising her children, and eventually went to work at the Forsyth County Public Library as a circulation supervisor. She enjoyed reading, fishing, and spending time with her family.

Betty is survived by her husband of 73 years, Preston Martin, daughter Anita Watson (Buddy), son in law Bobby Gravitt (Donna); grandchildren, Josh Gravitt, John Paul Gravitt (Brigitte), Brandi Watson (Jacob), Derek Watson (Britney); 9 great grandchildren, Preston, Daisy, Charlotte, Reese, Brooks, Ezra, Claire, Aaron, Parker; sisters-in-law, Betty Sue Chadwick, Bernice Mills, and Margaret Martin. Many nephews, nieces, and other relatives also survive.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; son, David Martin; daughter, Debbie Gravitt; her brothers, James Chadwick (Inez) and B.J.Chadwick, Jr.; sister, Virgina Roper (Talmadge); brothers-in-law, Hoyt Mills and Maurice Martin; and her infant granddaughters, Amanda and Leslie Gravitt.

Funeral services will be held Monday, November 13, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Ingram Funeral Home in Cumming, GA, with Rev. Ricky Byrd, Rev. Ruel Martin officiating. Interment will follow at Sawnee View Gardens in Cumming, GA with Rev. Pete Martin officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service.
