Cdr. Brandon B. Blum USN/Ret (79) passed away December 25th, after a long, courageous battle against Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma. He was retired from the US Navy after 28 years of service. He served as a pilot and flew missions in VietNam, and was awarded several medals for his service. He was passionate about the military, golf and family. A member of Northwood Country Club, he walked 18 holes, 4 days a week until his condition deteriorated and he continued to play 9 holes any time he could.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Norma J. Blum, 2 daughters, Kirsten Reisz (Brian) of Washington, D.C., Katrina Tomlinson (Andrew) of Amissville, VA, three step-daughters, Linda Lapresi (Mike) of Tucker, Kim Mielke (Mitch) of Scottsdale, AZ and Hope Spetnagel of Alpharetta, five step-grandchildren, sister Sara Rainone of Vero Beach, FL and brother, Donald of Decatur.
The body was cremated and a service in his honor will be held at Snellville United Methodist Church on Sunday, January 6th at 2 PM with Rev. Julie Schendel presiding. The family will recieve guests after the service. Burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wounded Warriors, VietNam Vets and the Salvation Army.
