Dr. Carol Jean Christensen, DC (née Maule) went peacefully into the Lord’s arms on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at her home in Alpharetta, Georgia. She was 75 years old.
Known affectionately as Kippy, Carol was born on September 19, 1950, the second child to Donald and Marguerite Maule.
After graduation from Sun Prairie (WI) High School in 1968, Kippy went on to become a Registered Nurse, working several years in Intensive Care Units and hospital quality assurance roles.
In 1991, she earned her Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Life Chiropractic College in Atlanta and opened her own Chiropractic practice in Raleigh, NC. In 1999, she sold the practice and moved back to Atlanta with her husband Steve, where she continued practicing Chiropractic treatment. She was a devoted caregiver to her patients, prioritizing their wellbeing and comfort with unwavering compassion and those who knew her often spoke of her special healing touch that brought peace and reassurance beyond words.
Outside of her professional life, Kip found joy on the tennis court. She loved playing with Steve and their friends and was an enthusiastic member of several competitive tennis teams in Atlanta. Her spirited play and warm presence made her a beloved teammate and friend.
In 2014, Kip was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease. She embraced this challenge with determination, drawing on her medical and chiropractic expertise to research the relationship between musculoskeletal and neurological disorders. Using her personal experience, she developed case studies and formulated her own theories on the causes and potential treatments for this still incurable disease.
Kip is survived by her husband of 43 years, Steve Christensen; daughter Erin (Keith) Perkins, of Raleigh NC, and grandchildren Dalton, Corinne and Renee Perkins; her son, Stephen (Hanna) Christensen and grandson Allan, of Stockholm, Sweden.
She is also survived by her brother Ken, of Fort Atkinson, WI, and his children, Carson (Steph), Geneva and Katie Maule; and nephew Ken (Mona) Reitz of Maple Valley, WA, along with their children Anna, Josh and Joey Reitz.
Kip is preceded in death by her parents Donald Maule and Marguerite (Fred) Stevens; sister and brother-in-law Donna and Bob Reitz; grandson, Otis Hammarsten (Christensen) and step-sister, Kathy Stevens.
A memorial service will be held at Christ the Shepherd Lutheran Church, 4655 Webb Bridge Rd., Alpharetta, GA, at 2:00 pm, Saturday, November 1, 2025. A Celebration of Life will also be held in the Madison/Sun Prairie, WI area. The date and time of the Celebration has yet to be determined.
