Caroline Joy Markham Campbell, beloved mother, Grandmother, and great grandmother passed away peacefully on 11/29/2024. She was born, November 27, 1935 in Burnwell, WV, to Earl and Pearl Markham.
Caroline was the center of our home and family with her kind heart and spirit to all that knew her.
She was married To Jack, for 63 years, her soulmate; together a total of 68 years. They lived a wonderful life and gave their daughter Kim an upbringing that was full of love and commitment.
As parents, they were there for Kim at every dance recital, little league football game, majorettes through high school, and cheerleading through my college years. As parents they were there every step of the way and as a daughter am truly grateful for always having their love and support.
Their granddaughter, Lyndsey, was the apple of their eye, and they never missed anything that she was in. Their assignment as grandparents was, never miss anything important to their girl.
Caroline worked at West Virginia Institute of Technology for 25 years. She loved helping students and anyone that needed it throughout her career as a Librarian assistant in the circulation department.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Jack Monroe Campbell, her parents, Earl and Pearl Markham, sister, Arwannah Lloyd, and brother, Marvin D. Markham.
Caroline is survived by her loving daughter, Kim Gravitt, granddaughter, Lyndsey Phelps, husband Michael Phelps, great grandchildren who were the loves of her life, Campbell and Caroline Phelps, and many nieces and nephews, great nieces, great nephews and friends.
A very special thank you to Kathy Sharp, caregiver, who helped the family get through this year. Thank you to Dr. Padhiar, Golden Rule Hospice Care, and especially her nurse, Penny Crews.
Caroline will be flown from Georgia to West Virginia to her final resting place and placed by her husband at Kanawha Valley Gardens, Glasgow, WV. We will celebrate Caroline’s life with a Grave Side Service on Thursday December 5, 2024 at 10 am.
