Charles (Chuck) Paul Ahrendt, age 85, of Dawsonville, GA peacefully passed away Saturday November 8th, 2025. Chuck was born on March 9th, 1940, to Dewey and Ethel Gunn of Ty Ty, GA.
He was born into a family of four brothers, Oren, Richard, Billy, and Jay Gunn along with two sisters, Kathleen and Louise Gunn, all of whom preceded him in death. He was fortunate to be loved and adopted by his parents Theodore and Martha Ahrendt of Decatur, GA when he was a young man still in primary school. Both of his parents also proceeded him in death.
As a young man of eleven years, Chuck met FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover and received the National School Safey Patrol Life Saving Award for saving the life of a 6-year-old little girl.
Chuck grew up to become a successful businessman and created a family of his own. For the past 30 years, he enjoyed the peaceful life found in the north Georgia mountains. During his time there he created some wonderful friendships and a brotherhood that he held dear to his heart. He enjoyed fishing in Lake Lanier, sitting down by the creek and “much loved” poker games with the boys.
Chuck was also preceded in death by his son Doug Ahrendt and his daughter Christy Ahrendt. He is survived by his son Paul Ahrendt and daughter Carla Ahrendt, grandchildren: Christopher Ahrendt, Jeremy Ahrendt, Kelsey Ahrendt, and Cameron Ahrendt. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews as well as some of the best friends a guys could ever have. He also had many dear friends at the Dawsonville Senior Center.
He always maintained a cheerful outlook and offered encouragement to others. He liked to speak Spanish phases like, “Adios, vaya con Dios.” A celebration of life will be planned later.
