Charles Anthony “Tony” Phillips

Charles Anthony “Tony” Phillips, 73, passed away Thursday, July 27, 2023. Tony was born April 9, 1950, in Cumming, GA.

Tony is survived by his wife, Marsha; his three children: Scott (Joanna) Phillips, Josh (Flavia) Phillips, and Hilary (Jack) Snook; and his father, James C. Phillips. He leaves 11 grandchildren: Matthew Hammond, Jessie Hammond, Kaylee Phillips, Anna Belle (Grant) Moelter, Maria Johnson, Ruth Wallace, Asa Phillips, Dorothy Johnson, Lucy Phillips, Colt Snook, and Charlie Phillips; and sisters, Angie McGinnis and Donna Phillips. 

He was reunited in Heaven with his mother, Inez Phillips, and his daughter, Michelle Hammond.

Tony, a Navy Veteran, could be most often found surrounded by his border collies. Tony loved to tell stories of growing up in Coal Mountain on his grandpa’s farm. He much preferred the outdoors where he loved to hunt, fish, and trial his dogs. Tony could play any instrument with strings and spent many years playing bluegrass music. He was a private pilot, a blacksmith, and a storyteller. Above all, Tony valued his faith in Jesus. He loved to study the Word of God and teach others about scripture.  

A graveside service will be held Saturday, July 29, 2023 at 11:00 at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Carlton Coker, a first cousin to Mr. Phillips, officiating.
