Curtis Wilburn Holland passed away on July 16, 2026 at the age of 92. He was born February 23, 1934 to J.B. Holland and Grace Rolin Holland and was raised in the farm country of Colquitt County in South Georgia.
Curtis graduated from Georgia Tech with a degree in textile engineering, served as a Captain in the United States Air Force, a Major in the National Guard, and was a retired Eastern Airlines Captain who flew the DC-9 aircraft. While his service to his community was memorable, Curtis’ wife of 62 years, Myra Strickland Holland, and family took priority in his life as he served his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren in a Christ-honoring manner. Curtis was most known by his family and friends for his work ethic, ability to fix anything, and his willingness to help others. Curtis was a good man, hardworking, generous, and kind. He loved the Lord and was active in church all of his life, including attending Bible study with his fellow Eastern pilots and participation in the Unity Class at First Baptist Cumming.
Curtis’ family remembers his love of boating, camping, fishing, and hunting. If he was not fixing something around the house, talking to people everywhere he went, or driving a boat around the lake, he could be found watching Perry Mason or listening to the gospel songs of Gaither music. Curtis “PawPaw” Holland leaves a legacy with a love for good deals at yard sales, a love-hate relationship with mulch, a desire to frequently eat granola, nachos, and ice cream, and a deeper understanding of hard work, love for God, and service to family. Later in life, Curtis found love again and married Margaret Holland where they enjoyed four years of fun, laughing, telling stories, and traveling together.
Curtis is preceded in death by his first wife Myra Strickland Holland, grandson Christian Holland, and parents J.B. and Grace Holland. Curtis leaves behind his wife, Margaret Holland, his 3 children: Tom (Sarah) Holland, Teresa (Jeff) Robinson, Pam (Thad) Smith; 14 Grandchildren; 11 Great grandchildren; and 4 Siblings.
