Danny Lynn Jennings “Fifth Wheel”, age 58, of Cumming, GA, born on June 8, 1965, to James and Geraldine Jennings, passed away on Sunday, September 3, 2023. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Deidra Kay Jennings, and parents, James Edwin Jennings, and Geraldine Yarbrough Jennings.
Heaven got a little sweeter on Sunday, September 3rd, when the World lost Danny, but Danny’s legacy will remain for years and years to come. Danny lived a life that is the true definition of a good son, husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. Danny is a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. He drove an eighteen-wheeler for forty years and was most recently employed with DGR Mulch. Danny was a lot of things to a lot of people. To his grandchildren, he was "Poppy." He was their pitcher, their catcher, their infielder, their outfielder, their coach, or anything and everything they asked him to be, and his heart was too big to ever say, ‘No.’ To his boys, he was "Dennis" he was their entertainment, their motivator, their mechanic, their chauffeur, their teacher, their shoulder to lean on, their father, their hero and their best friend. To his daughter, he was "Deddy". He was a listening ear, a peaceful hug, a gentle voice, a loving heart, a calm kiss on the cheek. A man who went above and beyond for “Deddy’s little girl.” To his wife he was Daniel. He was her everything. He was her soul mate. He was her best friend. He was her protector. He was her rock. He was her caretaker. He was her peace. Everything she loved, he loved because it was important to her. Everything she wanted; he did his absolute best to make it come true. He loved her so well, he was able to know what she wanted, even before she knew she wanted it.
He was so many things to so many people. He lovingly referred to his big truck as "Mercy.” Like everything, and everyone he came to know, he was actually “Mercy.” Danny showed Mercy when others could not. He showed Mercy to anyone and everyone because he believed they deserved it. He showed Mercy when he did not think he deserved to receive it back. Danny was not limited to who’s heart he touched. Infant or elderly, he was always open to a warm hug, a friendly smile, and the sweetest “I Love You.” An “I love you” that he truly meant. He was truly everyone’s biggest fan. Now, he is walking the streets of gold with his savior. He is finally able to be with his loved ones who have gone before him. Sunday night Danny heard Jesus say “Well done, thou good and faithful servant. You have fought the good fight, you have finished your course, you have kept the faith.”
He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Sherri Jennings; children, Danae (Alvin) Hall, Dylan Jennings, Dalton Jennings, and Drake Jennings; grandchildren, Price and Drew Hall; siblings, Donna (Dennis) Pilcher, Bobby (Margie) Jennings, Jackie (Joan) Jennings, Carroll (Denise) Jennings, Harold (Karen) Jennings, and David (Angie) Jennings; father-in-law, James Samples, mother-in-law, Debbie Sexton; sister-in-law, Brandi (Eric) Abercrombie; 27 nieces and nephews and 28 great nieces and nephews; along with many other loving relatives and friends.
