Celebrating the Life of David B. Castleberry
David B. Castleberry, a proud Georgia native and adventurous spirit, passed away leaving behind a legacy defined by exploration, laughter, and an unparalleled generosity of heart. David lived life as a journey, treating the world as a place to discover and everyone he met along the way as a friend.
A Lifelong Journey of Exploration and Connection
For David, traveling wasn’t just about seeing new places—it was about experiencing them fully. He had a profound zest for life and an open heart for the road. He loved nothing more than setting off on a new adventure, enjoying a fantastic meal in a new town, and making fast friends with strangers along the way. Some of his happiest moments were spent by the coast. He found true peace by the water, where he loved to walk along the shore, float effortlessly in the ocean, and hold hands with his loving wife, Paulette. His travels were fueled by a vibrant curiosity that extended from a deep appreciation for the storytelling of Broadway musicals to a good joke shared over a dinner table.
Honor, Skill, and a Life of Service
Before his retirement after 32 years of dedicated service with Lucent Technologies, David served his country as a Marine. He carried that disciplined, reliable work ethic into every aspect of his life, combining it with a brilliant mechanical mind. David was the ultimate fixer—a man who could truly repair anything he put his hands on, from cars and houses to RVs and helicopters. For fellow travelers and friends alike, David was the person everyone relied on. He was always on call to rescue someone in a bind, whether that meant showing up in person or patiently guiding them through a fix over the phone.
Faith and Foundation
Anchored by a quiet, steady faith, David was a member of Christ Covenant Baptist Church in Canton, Georgia. He balanced his active life on the road with quiet moments of reflection spent with his Bible. "He never met a stranger, never backed down from a mechanical challenge, and alwaysanswered the call when someone needed help on the road of life."
David is survived by his wife, Paulette, his children, Mark and Misty, and a loving extended family including his grandchildren, Sean, Lindsay, Rylan and Kendall, his great-grandson, Levi, and his niece, Amy. His warmth, humor, and adventurous soul will be deeply missed by loved ones and the many friends he made across miles of travels.
A funeral service to honor the life of David will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 2nd, 2026, in the chapel of Ingram Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Forgette, Rev. Jason Roberts, and Rev. Johnny Murphine officiating. Interment will follow the service at Sawnee View Gardens in Cumming, Georgia. The family of David Castleberry will be accepting friends and family on Sunday, May 31st, 2026, from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM. Monday, June 1st, 2026, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, and once again Tuesday, June 2nd, the day of the service, from 9:00 AM until the time of service.
