David Huw Seiriol Williams passed away on August 9th, 2024. He was born in West Lavington, Wiltshire, England, to Gwilym Mervyn and Sarah Olive Williams on February 23, 1935. Huw had one sister, Susan Owen (husband Ray), who died in 2013. At the age of 10, Huw’s family moved to Wales where his parents were born and he attended Llandovery Boarding School. Huw married Barbara Watkins on August 17, 1963 in Atlanta, Georgia at Peachtree Presbyterian Church. Barbara died in March 1987. In May 1994, he married Marie Lanier. He is survived by his wife, Marie, of 30 years; his daughter and son-in law, Karen and Ken Allen, their children, Summer and Tess Allen; his daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Rick Richardson, their children, Hayden, Jory, and Jayce Richardson; his daughter and son-in-law, Sarah and Chip Doster, their children Kiley Powers (husband Matthew); Luke (wife Natalie), Mason (wife Katlyn), and Merit Doster; his stepson and wife, Jeff and Susan Lanier, their children Rayna Lanier, Julia Stephens (husband Sean); Wyatt, Mitch, and Remy Morris; and his stepdaughter and husband, Rhonda and Wes Witmer, their children John Witmer (fiancé Molly) and Katie Hall (husband Jeremy). He is also survived by his four great grandchildren, Levi and Hadley Powers and Olivia and Miles Hall. 

Huw earned a degree in Economics at University of London, a degree in Seminary at Queen’s University Kingston (Ontario, Canada) and a degree in Banking from Dartmouth College. He served in the British Army from 1953-55. Huw moved to Toronto, Canada at the age of 22, in 1957, where he worked as a Branch Manager for the Bank of Montreal. In 1968, he and his wife, Barbara, moved to Atlanta. He was a member of Peachtree Presbyterian Church since 1968 where he served as a Deacon and an Elder and was the church treasurer for 12 years. He served as the President of the Covenant Sunday School for ten years. He was employed by Bank South/Fulton National for 24 years and retired as Senior Vice-President of Administrative Services. After retiring from the bank, he was the Business Manager of High Meadows School in Roswell for eight years. 

 In final retirement, Huw and Marie joined Friendship Force at Big Canoe-North Georgia in 2001. He served as President for two years and was the Exchange Director on 15 trips abroad. Friendship Force gave Huw and Marie the opportunity to visit 30+ countries, five continents, and many US States. Huw was a member of the St. David’s Welsh Society of Georgia since 1991 and the North American Welsh Society (also known as the Gymanfa Ganu-a singing festival held every year in the US and Canada). Huw served as the President of the GA Society for two years. He served as the treasurer of the national organization for six years. With this club, Huw and Marie visited many cities in the US and Canada. All of the travel allowed Huw to participate in his two favorite hobbies, photography and golf.

Ingram Funeral Home in Cumming is in charge of the arrangements. A memorial service will be scheduled in November. In lieu of flowers, it was Huw’s wish that donations be made to Peachtree Presbyterian Church, Atlanta, Georgia in his memory at 3434 Roswell Road, NW, Atlanta, Georgia, 30305.
