In Loving Memory of David Mullison Lauderbaugh
April 6, 1941 – October 24, 2025
It is with deep love and gratitude that we celebrate the life of David Mullison Lauderbaugh, who passed away peacefully at home on October 24, 2025, at the age of 84.
Professional Legacy
David Lauderbaugh was a pioneering leader in the corrugated packaging industry whose vision and technical insight helped shape the field for more than four decades.
A graduate of Rider University, David began his career in 1963 with Continental Can Company, where he served in a variety of engineering roles including regional industrial engineer and production manager. Over his 19 years with the company, he gained an extensive understanding of the machinery, systems, and people that powered the corrugated packaging industry.
In 1981, drawing on this deep experience, David founded Corrugated Gear and Sprocket, later known as Corrugated Gear and Services, Inc. (CG&S), in Alpharetta, Georgia. What began as a small machine shop providing high-quality replacement parts for corrugated equipment grew under his leadership into a respected, multi-location manufacturing enterprise.
CG&S became the only company in the industry to offer spare parts, rebuilds, retrofits, new equipment, same-day service, and OEM components—all under one roof. Through innovation and dedication, David positioned CG&S as a trusted partner to box plants and equipment manufacturers across the country.
A member of the Technical Association of the Pulp and Paper Industry (TAPPI) since 1984, David earned the organization’s highest technical honor—the 2008 Corrugated Packaging Division Technical Award and Harry J. Bettendorf Prize—recognizing his outstanding contributions to the technical advancement of the corrugated industry.
He held 15 patents related to corrugated packaging machinery and was twice nominated as Georgia Entrepreneur of the Year. His innovations included the Hotfoot™ Doublebacker Heat Transfer System, General Taper improvements, and the Dual Belt Doublebacker Drive Conversion.
David’s leadership philosophy was rooted in service and collaboration: “Don’t stop listening until the customer stops asking.” His legacy endures in the thriving company he built—one that continues to reflect his commitment to quality, innovation, and integrity.
A Life of Heart, Humor, and Adventure
Beyond his career, David was a devoted husband, father, and friend. He was known for his storytelling, quick wit, and ability to think outside of the box.
Sailing was David’s great passion—a place where freedom met focus. The rhythm of the sea mirrored his adventurous nature and his love for precision and challenge. At the helm, surrounded by family and friends, his laughter carried across the water as stories and memories took on a life of their own.
He found joy in life’s simple pleasures—a good story, a good beer, and the satisfaction of a problem well solved. His legacy continues to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.
