Dennis L. Smith passed away peacefully on July 15, 2026, at the age of 75.
Born on November 28, 1950, in Bowling Green, Kentucky, Dennis lived a life defined by love, generosity, hard work, and devotion to his family.
He is survived by his daughter, Lisa White, and her husband, Christopher, who were a constant source of pride and joy in his life. His greatest title, however, was “Pop” to his beloved grandchildren, Emily and Carson. He is also survived by his sister, Shiela Craven; his brother, David Smith, and David's wife, Lucy; his loving partner, Debbie Nobles; and many nieces, nephews, and their families. He also leaves behind members of Paula's family, who remained an important part of his life through the years.
Dennis was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 39 years, Paula Sue Smith, whose memory he carried with him always; his parents, Lloyd and Evon Smith; his brother-in-law, Larry Craven; and his brother, Rodney Smith.
As the son of an Army family, Dennis grew up embracing adventure and service. He was active in the Boy Scouts and earned the distinguished rank of Eagle Scout. He dedicated 32 years of service to Delta Air Lines, where he built lasting friendships and earned the respect of his colleagues. Following his retirement, he earned a degree from Clayton State University, reflecting his lifelong curiosity and love of learning.
Dennis pursued a wide variety of hobbies and interests throughout his life, including working on cars and building computers. Most recently, he discovered a passion for 3D printing and even authored a book to share his knowledge with others. Dennis and Paula shared a lifelong love of Gordon Setters, and over the years their home was filled with these faithful companions. Their loyal dog, Ellie, held a special place in Dennis's heart and will continue to be lovingly cared for.
Those who knew Dennis will remember him as a fierce protector of the people he loved, always ready to lend a hand, offer advice, or share a story. His love, strength, kindness, and generous spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 2, 2026, at Ingram Funeral Home in Cumming, Georgia. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m., followed by the memorial service at 2:00 p.m.
