Donald Eugene Hutchins, age 74, of Dawsonville, GA passed away surrounded by his loving family Friday, May 8, 2026.
Born August 20, 1951 in Atlanta, GA, he was the son of the late Henry Hutchins and Dorothy Hutchins.
Don is preceded in death by his great granddaughter, Sarah Ann Wolters.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda; his children, Chrissy (Gene), Travis (Brittany), his grandchildren, Erica and John, Tori, Abigail, LG, Slayter, and Asher; and 6 great grandchildren. Don was affectionately known as GaGa and Granddaddy.
Don graduated from Russell High School and West Georgia University. He was a history teacher and athletic director of South Forsyth High School. His passion for teaching went beyond textbooks; he took pride in shaping students’ minds and character, inspiring countless young people to reach their potential both in the classroom and on the field outside of school. He was a devoted, loving husband to his lifelong best friend, Brenda, and a proud father of his children, Chrissy and Travis.
Those who knew Don remember his warmth, humor, unwavering commitment to his family and lifelong love of baseball. His impact will be felt for generations as family, students and athletes like carry forward the lessons he instilled with care and dedication.
Graveside funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 13, at 1:00 p.m. at Green Lawn Cemetery in Roswell. The procession will depart from Ingram Funeral Home at 12:00 p.m.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
