Doris Wilson Davis, 97, of Stone Mountain, Georgia, passed peacefully from this life on August 2, 2025. Born on January 21, 1928, Doris was one of five children. Throughout her life, she selflessly cared for both of her parents, along with her siblings and their families during their times of struggle. Doris married Harold Leon Davis in July 1946. Together, they had two children, Douglas and Elaine Davis. Doris built a career by working many different jobs over the years, including at the Braves ticket office, the telephone company, and Equifax (later called ChoicePoint). She was driven to save for her future and support her favorite hobby: shopping. Doris, affectionately referred to as Grandma and Oma, had three granddaughters who were the lights of her life, and she spoiled all of them rotten the best she could. She loved to read, was passionate about history and politics (she would have become an attorney given the opportunity), and she loved traveling. She also took up painting in addition to shopping after her retirement.Spending most of her years in Stone Mountain, Georgia, she was a frequent patron of Phipps Plaza and Lenox Mall. In November 2019, Doris relocated to Cumming, Georgia, to be able to spend more time with family. Doris is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Elaine Davis Clem, and her son-in-law, James Clem; her son, Douglas Davis, and her daughter-in-law, Lisa Davis; and her three treasured granddaughters, Sandra Davis, Davis Clem Handlin (and husband, Matthew Handlin), and Tessa Clem Douthitt (and husband, Garrett Douthitt). She is also survived by her four beloved great-grandchildren: Apollo, Griffin, Kai, and Nora. She will be dearly missed by all who loved her. Visitation will be held for Doris on Saturday, August 9, 2025, from 2–4 p.m., with a celebration of life immediately following at 4 p.m. The visitation and service will be held at Ingram Funeral Home, 210 Ingram Avenue, Cumming, GA 30040.
