Doris Lucile Bedford Fink passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on October 26, 2026. Born on September 15, 1940, in Nashville, Tennessee, Lucile was a kind, loving, and devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend. She found happiness in life’s simple pleasures, especially spending time with the people she loved, celebrating special occasions, and living out her faith in Jesus Christ.
Lucile was preceded in death by her husband, James Fink; her father, Paul Dorris Bedford; her mother, Martha Francis Fortner; her brother, Paul Leslie Bedford; and her beloved grandson, Jack Key Armstrong.
Affectionately known as Lucy, Mom, Nana, Grandma Lucy, Gigi, and Aunt Lucile, she was a woman whose personality was every bit as memorable as her heart was loving. Lucy had a wonderful sense of humor, a contagious love of life, and what her family fondly remembers as a true firecracker personality! She had plenty of spunk, a little sass, and a way of bringing laughter and energy wherever she went. She loved having fun, shopping, dressing up, attending parties, listening to music, and dancing. But above all, she fiercely loved her family. She devoted much of her life to encouraging those she loved, helping them grow, and wanting the very best for each of them. Her family could always count on her love, advice, and encouragement.
Lucy especially loved making a house feel like a home. She enjoyed decorating, cooking, gardening, knitting, and making blankets for others. She delighted in the details that made things special, whether decorating for a new season, preparing for a holiday, or simply making sure everyone felt welcome. Those who spent time with Lucy knew how much thought and love she put into creating a warm and inviting home.
Lucy truly enjoyed life and loved staying busy doing the things that brought her happiness. Even in her final days, she enjoyed getting out and about for restaurant outings, shopping trips, and even getting her nails done! One especially sweet memory is the pumpkin pillow purchased for her on her very last shopping outing. She kept it by her side until her final day here on earth. It seems so fitting for someone who loved decorating and celebrating every season. This small but treasured memory is one her family will always remember with a smile.
Lucy is survived by her sister, Nancy Egbert (Bill); her son, Brian Biddle (Casey); and her daughter, Julie Armstrong (Brian). She also leaves behind five grandchildren: Donald J. Armstrong, Ashley Wade (Patrick), Michael Biddle (Erin), Christopher Biddle (Courtney), and Kyle Biddle (Stephanie); and nine great-grandchildren: Evelyn Wade, Addison Biddle, Mollie Wade, Brenden Biddle, Cameron Biddle, Jett Biddle, Heidi Biddle, Isla Biddle, and Whitaker Biddle.
She is also survived by her nieces, Katie Stiles (Mike), Lisa Gutekunst (Wayne), Sheri Buleza (Mike), and Leslie Bybel (Pete); and her nephew, Tucker Egbert (Katie).
Her stepchildren, Michael Fink, Christopher Fink (Gro), and Susie Fink Mercado, also remain an important part of her family, along with her step-grandchildren, Mike Fink, Sydney Fink, Thale Fink, Oscar Fink, Elias Fink, Theodore Fink, and Oliver Mercado.
Above all, Lucile loved the Lord and had a deep and abiding faith in Jesus Christ. Her faith was central to who she was and how she lived her life. It gave her strength throughout her journey, and her family finds comfort in knowing that she is now at home with the Savior she loved.
One of the sweetest blessings of Lucy’s final days was that she was able to spend them being lovingly cared for by her daughter, Julie. That time together was a special gift to them both.
Lucy will be missed more than words can express. Her family and friends will miss her laughter, her quick wit, her firecracker spirit, her love of celebrating, and all the little things that made her uniquely Lucy. The memories she created, the family traditions she cherished, and the love she so freely shared will live on through the many people fortunate enough to have known her.
We take comfort in knowing that she is now at home with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Her life was a blessing to so many, and she leaves behind a family who will continue to love her, remember her, and give thanks for the precious time they shared with her.
And, in true Lucy fashion, we leave you with one final memory: seeing her shaking her finger at you and declaring,
“YOU BETTER BEHAVE!”
We can almost hear her saying it now!
