Wanda Schwan, 79, passed away peacefully after a courageous four-and-a-half-year battle with cancer, surrounded by the love of her family. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, strength, resilience, and unconditional love.
Born in Columbus, Georgia, Wanda met the love of her life, Peter Schwan, at a young age. Peter, a young German immigrant, and Wanda married after only three months of courtship, beginning a beautiful 63-year marriage built on unwavering love and devotion. Their relationship was a true partnership and a lasting example of commitment and enduring love.
A gifted entrepreneur and designer, Wanda possessed a remarkable eye for beauty and style. She built, owned, and operated several successful businesses with her passion being Interior Design. She did so at a time when few women pursued careers in business. She was creative, determined, and never afraid to work hard to create a better life for her family.
Wanda was known for her elegance, quick wit, sharp sense of humor, and unmistakable presence. She had a way of making people laugh, speaking her mind with honesty, and fiercely loving those closest to her. She was strong, generous, loyal, and unforgettable.
She was a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother and great-grandmother, and a faithful Christian.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 63 years, Peter Schwan; her children, Rhonda Bandy and Timothy Schwan; her grandchildren, Jordan, Matthew, Nick, Sara, Katie, and Caroline; seven great-grandchildren; her bonus son, Shannon Maloy; and many extended family members and dear friends.
Though our hearts are broken, we rejoice in knowing Wanda is now healed and at peace in the presence of her Savior. Her grace, strength, laughter, and love will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A funeral service to honor the life of Wanda will be held at Ingram Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 28th, 2026, at noon with Rev. Sean Hachem officiating. Interment will follow at Sawnee View Gardens in Cumming, Georgia.
