Obituary

Dorothy Ann Riley White, formerly of Westminster, Colorado, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2026, at the age of 96 in Cumming, Georgia. She was born on October 22, 1929, to Earl and Irma Riley in Covington, Kentucky.

After World War II, she married William Donald White in 1950, and together they shared 45 beautiful years. Dorothy and William loved exploring and traveling the back roads of the Colorado Rockies with their three children, William Jr., Brandon, and Martin.

She also loved reading. She was an incessant reader until her eyesight began to fail. She is survived by her sons William and Martin. Her son Brandon passed away a few months earlier. She had four grandchildren: Elizabeth, Spencer, Daniel and Alex, and two great- granddaughters, Alexandra and Annabelle.

A few words about the period surrounding October 22, 1929, the day she was born. This was a time that marked the transition from the speculative heights of the "Roaring Twenties" to the onset of the Great Depression.

This was the world into which Dorothy Ann White was born. She died 96 years later, on August 9, 2026. During the span of her lifetime, she saw many of the most consequential global events, ideas, and inventions in the history of the world take shape.

The United States total money supply contracted by over 10% in October 1929 alone. Unemployment soared and industrial production halted, leading to widespread poverty that lasted until the onset of World War II.

We can only imagine what her father, Earl Riley, was feeling with a new baby and the world sliding into crisis.

During her lifetime, she saw many changes: civil rights reform, gender equality, climate change and space exploration.

She had seen it all over the years. She was the last of this generation in our family – "The Greatest Generation." Now she has joined the others of that unique era who have gone before her. May she rest in peace.
