Dorsey Gene Graves

Dorsey Gene Graves, 83, of Cumming passed away Sunday, August 21, 2022. Gene was born March 8, 1939 in Gwinnett County to the late William Dorsey Graves and Sarah Story Graves. He graduated from Tucker High School in 1957.  He enlisted in the U.S. Army for two years, 18 months stationed in Germany.  Gene graduated from Southern Tech and retired as a sales rep from Blue Circle. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Roy Graves.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Duncan Graves; daughters, Lisa Graves (Russ) Roseberry, Gena Graves (Jeff) Garner, Kristen Graves (Chip) Lowder; grandchildren, Abby Rice, Evan Roseberry, Sam Garner, Anna Lowder, Will Lowder; sister, Elizabeth Graves Dickens; sister-in-law Selma Mitchell; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Gene was a loving husband, father, and grandfather to his family.  He enjoyed trout fishing, doing jigsaw puzzles, and watching classic movies.  He will be greatly missed. 

A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, August 27, at 1:00 p.m. at the Ingram Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jeff Garner officiating. Interment will follow at Sawnee View Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
