Dozier P. Smith, Jr

Dozier P. Smith, Jr. of Atlanta, age 53, passed away on December 20, 2012. He is survived by his father, Dozier P. Smith, Sr., mother, Helen F. Smith; brother and sister-in-law, Lyn and Barb Smith of Gainesville; sister and brother-in-law, Terri and Bubba Newman of Fayetteville; niece, Meredith Lea Earnest of Fayetteville. Dozier was a graduate of Woodward Academy, where he was a star baseball pitcher. Dozier liked to work with his hands, and he could fix anything. His greatest joy was fishing in his bass boat at Lake Lanier at the family home. He leaves behind 3 dogs that he loved very much - Jazz, Blue and Belle. Dozier was very thoughtful of his family. He was a good Samaritan and always tried to help others. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 27, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Jefferson Avenue Baptist Church in East Point, Georgia. The address is 1150 Jefferson Avenue. The family will receive friends at 1:30 pm at the Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Grady Hospital, 80 Jesse Hill Jr. Dr. SE, Atlanta, GA 30303. He will be missed forever by his family and friends.
