Edward "Ed" Alan Housler

Edward ‘Ed’ Housler, of Gainesville, Georgia, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2026, at the age of 61. Born on July 26, 1965, in Muskegon, Michigan, Ed was a 1983 graduate of Ionia High School and went on to receive a BA in Marketing Management from Northwood University and an MBA from the University of Michigan. On June 6,1992 he married the love of his life, Kelly White. They lived in several cities in Michigan before moving to Georgia for his work where they raised their daughter, Katelyn.

Ed spent 28 years of his career devoted to his work at Siemens across sales, marketing, and business development for complex automation technology. Though incredibly passionate about the work he did, it was the relationships and lifelong friendships that he built along the way that meant the most to him.

Ed was the person you called when you needed absolutely anything: advice on a sales lead, instruction on how to change your car’s rotors, cheapest ways to travel, how to build a structurally sound retention wall, the list goes on. And he would drop everything to jump into the trenches along with you. If there was anything Ed was not going to do, it was hiring someone else to do work that he could easily learn himself from a few quick YouTube videos. He has been described by those close to him as ‘a wealth of knowledge’ who had a tremendous ‘impact on those around him’.

Over the last three months, he bravely fought Stage 4 Multiple Myeloma after being diagnosed just days after his retirement in May. He was responding very well to treatment and already had plans to travel to visit former coworkers and do all the handyman-ing needed on his daughter’s house.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Kelly; daughter Katelyn; father Alan (& Marlene) Housler; mother Esther (& Lloyd) Rusco; sisters Edith (& Chuck) Farrell and Ellen (& Scott) Rusco; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
