Edwin Harry Clanton

Emblem

Edwin Harry Clanton was an affectionate, dedicated, and hardworking man who always put the needs of others above his own.  Harry was born in Alpharetta, GA, in 1948.  He was a faithful member of Atlanta Street Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.  Harry was always ready to lend a helping hand and offer assistance to others with a true servant’s heart and a witty sense of humor.

Harry served his country, proudly as an Army Sergeant in the 1st Platoon as a member of the Big Red One C Company, 1st Battalion, 26th Infantry.  He did a tour of service in the Vietnam War.  Upon his return, he married the love of his life, Mardell.  They shared 53 loving years together.  He was blessed with two daughters and his greatest joy became his family and grandchildren.

He taught us all to love and cherish three things above all else: God, family, and country.

He was loved and cherished by many people.  He was proceeded in death by his parents, James and Ethel Clanton of Dunwoody, GA; brother, Ronnie Clanton of Canton, GA; sister, Shirley Mitchell of Pendagrass, GA.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mardell Wingo Clanton of Cumming, GA; daughters, Kim (Dusty) Ross of Canton Ga., and Amy (Matt) Mullvain of Cumming, GA; 7 grandchildren, Cole (Nicole) Ross, Brody Ross, Jett Ross of Canton, GA; Davis Mullvain, Drew Mullvain, Alleigh Mullvain, Avery Mullvain, all of Cumming, GA; 2 great grandchildren; Juliette and Boaz Ross; brother and sister-n-law, Billy (Cathy) Hansard; siblings, Jimmy (Jenny) Clanton, Linda Clanton, David (Judy) Clanton, Brenda (John) Mazenis; best friends, Garry (Beverly) Holton; a host of nieces, nephews, and other loving family.
