Elinor Joyce Sweatt Stodghill

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Elinor Joyce Sweatt Stodghill, age 88, of Cumming, GA. Joyce passed away on Tuesday, December 16, 2025 at The Oaks at Hampton in Cumming, GA. She has now joined her husband of 66 years, Gerald Stodghill, who passed away exactly one year ago to the date of her passing.

Joyce was born in Atlanta, GA on August 7, 1937. She graduated from Crawford Long Nursing school in 1958 and then worked as a nurse at Biddy’s Nursing Home in Atlanta, GA. She worked there with her mom for 7 years.

Joyce was one of the founders of the Humane Society of Forsyth County Georgia in 1973. She loved animals and had many cats, dogs, and even a parakeet. She loved living on the lake and looking out over the water. She especially loved the beach and going to Daytona Beach, Florida with her family. While there, she enjoyed collecting seashells, eating crab legs dipped in butter, and loved looking out at the ocean. Joyce was a wonderful artist that painted many beautiful paintings of landscapes, flowers, animals, and more. She was a proud mother and grandmother (Two Mama) that will be missed dearly.

She is survived by her daughter Kimberly Wilfong, her son-in-law Chris Wilfong, her granddaughter Mollie Blane, and her grandson-in-law Christopher Blane.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Douglas Stodghill, her mother Elinor Frances Starr Sweatt, and her father Moses Culveston Sweatt.

Visitation will be held at Ingram Funeral Home 210 Ingram Ave Cumming, GA 30040 on Friday, December 19, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, as well as before her funeral service on Saturday.

Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 20, at 11:00 AM at Ingram Funeral Home 210 Ingram Ave Cumming, GA 30040. There will be a funeral procession to follow at the cemetery at Sawnee View Gardens 1390 Dahlonega Hwy Cumming, GA 30040.
