On Monday, April 28, 2025, Ellyn B. Foard of Sugar Hill, GA, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away at the age of 93. Ellyn was born on October 9, 1931, in Chicago, IL, to parents Hubert and Irene Brentlinger. Ellyn graduated from the University of Indiana in 1953 and became a teacher in her hometown of East Chicago, IN. She later moved to Coronado, CA, where she met and married Navy pilot Wyatte F. Foard Jr. They moved frequently as part of military life, which Ellyn embraced wholeheartedly as they raised their three children. Later in life, she embarked on a second career in the insurance industry, where her dedication and hard work led her to rise through the ranks until her retirement. Ellyn lived a beautiful life full of faith, love, and devotion to her family. She grew up as a member of First Congregational Church in IN and always enjoyed singing in the church choir. Some of her fondest early memories were filled with swimming, sailing, long walks, and ice cream shops where her family spent the summers in Middleville, MI. In her later years, Ellyn was deeply devoted to her family. She never missed a chance to cheer from the stands at sporting events, clap proudly at recitals, or attend school programs for her grandchildren. She treasured every moment of quality time with them, filling their lives with encouragement, laughter, and unconditional love. Ellyn also had a lifelong love of simple pleasures—afternoons spent shopping, enjoying a good ice cream cone, sipping a glass of scotch, and working through countless crossword puzzles. She continued to travel with her dear friends from high school, sharing adventures and creating new memories together, always carrying her vibrant spirit and sense of humor wherever she went. Ellyn is preceded in death by her former husband, Wyatte F. Foard Jr.; son, Wyatte F. Foard III; son-in-law, David Deal; her parents and siblings. She is survived by her daughter, Leslie Deal; daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Allyn Sell; granddaughter and husband, Nicole and Andrew Hubbard; granddaughter and husband, Amy and Desmond Bawl; granddaughter and husband, Amanda and Devin Nothstine; granddaughter, Lauren Sell; and great-grandson, Cameron Bawl.
A celebration of life will be held by the family at a later date.
