Elwood G. Heffelfinger (Ed) born August 16, 1936 died on September 11, 2023. He graduated from Whitehall High School in the class 1954. After retiring from a 35 year banking career in Pennsylvania, Ed moved to Kiawah Island, SC. in 1995, in 2001 moved to Aiken, SC. and in 2018 he located in Cumming, GA. Ed enjoyed the study of history and while in Aiken he attended USC-Aiken and earned a BA in History and Political Science at the age of 68. Ed was the author of several books including Will the United Nations Fail in its Role as Protector of World Peace , Has America’s Melting Pot Become Tarnished and Is Health Care a Right of All Americans. He enjoyed traveling and in their travels he and his wife Alyce visited all fifty states and over 50 countries on four continents.
Mr. Heffelfinger is survived by his wife of 66 years, Alyce J. Fiedler Heffelfinger of Cumming, a son Gary Robert and his wife Christina of Cumming, GA and a grand-daughter Kathryn L., and her spouse Kelly of Roswell, GA and his sister Beverly of Spring City, PA. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Forsyth County Humane Society.
