The Life of My Sweet Momma, Emily Jane Holloway Franklin
With the greatest of sorrows felt we share with all our family and dear friends that our precious Mom and Nana, Emily Jane Holloway Franklin, has passed and gone home to be with her Lord and reunite with her loving husband, Bobby, on October 26, 2024. Emily Jane was the sunshine that beamed in all of our hearts! She looked forward to each given day and made everyone feel like family. Her heart, soul and that smile were full of genuine love, joy and showed us all how to give of ourselves and to be intentional with caring for others. She was just 84 years young and with a heart of pure gold.
Emily Jane was born in Fayetteville, Tennessee to James Robert Holloway and Emily Elizabeth Clinard Holloway on June 22, 1940. She moved at an early age of 3 to settle where she always called home, Winchester, Tennessee. Emily Jane was raised in Winchester with her sister, Melinda Holloway Goodman. She met the love of her life, Hugh Beal “Bobby” Franklin Jr after seeing him plowing a field at his homeplace and she asked if she could ride on his tractor. Emily Jane use to love to tell this story to everyone, a love story that built a life, family, and love like no other. Emily Jane married Bobby on her 18th birthday of 1958, and they then immediately moved to Atlanta to build their new life together. After 9 years and 2 weeks, they welcomed their one and only daughter, Elizabeth Paige Franklin Fouts, into the world. She always said that there was no other gift in the world greater than being blessed to be her mom. Emily Jane and Bobby devoted their careers to R.L. Mathis Dairy in Decatur, Georgia where they made every person at the dairy their extended family. Emily Jane moved on to work at Deluxe Check Printers where she was quickly known as the “Voice of Deluxe” and adding more lifelong friends to her extended family. At retirement, Emily Jane and Bobby returned “home” to Winchester, TN. She loved their small town and getting to be back to her community and loving all her friends and family. Emily Jane came to live these past 5 years here in Cumming, Georgia to be by her daughter and son-in-law, Chris Fouts. We enjoyed all the treasured memories that we shared as a family and were able to travel and be included in all our family gatherings. She loved dogs and always enjoyed visits from her great-grand dogs and our friend’s dogs that got love, kisses and always a special treat.
Emily Jane was proceeded in death by her husband, Hugh Beal Franklin Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Paige Franklin Fouts, Son-in-law, Christopher Fouts; Grandsons Ricardo “Michael” Puga, Austin Franklin Fouts, Bryce Christopher Fouts; Grand-Daughter-In-Law, Brittany Fouts, Grand-Son-In-Law, Justin Flanagan, Great-Granddaughter, Marilyn Bobby Puga, Great-Grandson, Wilder Hugh Fouts to carry out her good works and love for life.
Emily Jane showed us all how to love hard and give selflessly. She shared her zest for life and demonstrated a shine outwardly to make someone’s day. This beautiful, classy, lady who we call our super-hero touched lives across the miles made sure we all felt her love and devotion for each of us.
