Eugene Arthur Schmidt, age 80, U. S. Army Veteran, beloved husband of Karin, loving father to his nine children, Jeanie Gifford, Traverse City, MI, Jerri Gavord ( Gary), Bay City, MI, James Schmidt, Saginaw, MI, Daniel Schmidt ( Pellston) MI, David Schmidt (Melissa), Boca Raton, FL, Deborah Miller, Alpharetta, GA, Sheryl Garrison, Suwanee, GA, Michael W. Stephenson (Susan) McDonough, GA, Robin Stephenson (Rene) Cumming, GA, fifteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, devoted grandfather and great-grandfather, and cherished by his sister and family, entered into eternal peace on Wednesday, July 1, 2015, at Embracing Hospice in Cumming, GA. Eugene was born in Flint, Michigan to Clarence and Ruth Shmidt on June 4, 1935 where he graduated from high school and also went to college. After his honorable service in the Armed Forces, which also included a tour in Heidelberg, Germany, he began a very successful career with IBM in the technical field and worked for them until his early retirement. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, July 4, 2015, at three o'clock p.m. in the chapel of Ingram Funeral Home. Scott Huskins will officiate.
