Gail Una Garner-Banks
Gail Una Garner-Banks, 79, of Loganville, Georgia, formerly of LaGrange, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 22, 2026.
Gail was born in Troup County, Georgia, to the late Rayford Thomas Garner and Lucille Payne Garner. She was a lifelong Georgian who cherished her family, her community, and the many relationships she built throughout her life.
Gail was a proud graduate of LaGrange High School and continued her education at Troup County School of Practical Nursing, where she prepared for a career devoted to caring for others. Her compassion and dedication to those entrusted to her care became a defining part of her life.
Gail dedicated more than four decades of her professional life to nursing and caring for others. She retired from Florence Hand Nursing Home after 40 years of dedicated service. She later continued her career at LaGrange Nursing & Rehabilitation, where she remained committed to serving residents and their families until her retirement in 2013. Throughout her many years in nursing, Gail touched countless lives through her kindness, patience, compassion, and genuine concern for others.
While her career was an important part of her life, Gail’s greatest joy was her family. She treasured the time she spent with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchild, and extended family. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend whose presence brought comfort and warmth to those around her.
Gail was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Tommy Garner.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Jonathan Montgomery; her sons and daughter-in-law, Mark Banks and Christopher and Jessie Banks; five grandchildren; three great-grandchild; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and a host of other family members and friends who were blessed to know and love her.
Gail’s legacy will live on through the many lives she touched, both through her years of caring for others and through the love she gave so freely to her family. The memories she created with those she loved will remain a lasting reminder of a life dedicated to family, service, and compassion.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2026, in the chapel of Striffler-Hamby Funeral Home in LaGrange, Georgia, with Rev. Harold Savage officiating. Interment will follow at Shadowlawn Cemetery in LaGrange.
