George Albert Nordan, 85, of Cumming, GA passed away April 7, 2024. Mr. Nordan was born in Needham, AL to the late George and Vergie Whittington Nordan. George served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged as a Sgt. before joining the National Guard. Mr. Nordan owned a gas station, worked at a paper mill for over 40 years, and also worked at Target in his retirement. Everywhere he went, he impacted people and was loved.
He loved Jesus, his family, and Alabama football. George served his local church until his health declined when he would then watch multiple online services every Sunday. His greatest source of pride was seeing his family living lives for Christ and when they could all get together and celebrate.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Jean Nordan; children and their spouses, Georgia and Ken Peckett, Gray and Michelle Nordan, Ginger and Johnny Mendoza, Geanna & Alastair Wilde; sisters, Mary Turner, Sylvia Clark; 8 grandchildren (Breanna O’Bryan, Hannah Peckett, Christa ElMansy, Rachel Peckett, Grant Nordan, Isabella Peckett, Micah Mendoza, and Jubilee Wilde) and 2 great grandchildren (Griffin and Joanna O’Bryan).
Celebration of life will be held 4:00 pm Thursday, April 11, 2024 in the chapel of Ingram Funeral Home with Pastor Josh Mayo officiating followed by a time of visitation 5 pm to 7 pm at Ingram Funeral Home, 210 Ingram Avenue, Cumming, GA 30040.
Interment will follow 10:30 am Friday, April 12, 2024 at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA with military honors provided by the Veterans Alliance from Cumming, GA.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to www.gadistag.org/giving (select fund: “youth ministries” and then choose: “youth camp”) and help send youth to camp. George served many summers at kids and youth camps and this continues his legacy in the next generation.
Verse: Psalm 84:1-4 “How lovely is your dwelling place, Lord Almighty! My soul yearns, even faints, for the courts of the Lord; my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God…Blessed are those who dwell in your house; they are ever praising you.”
