Gerald McGinnis, 80, of Alpharetta, Georgia, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2025, in Dawsonville, Georgia, surrounded by the love of his family. Mr. McGinnis was born on December 17, 1944, Gerald lived a life marked by quiet strength, steady devotion, and selfless generosity. A proud Vietnam War veteran, he served his country with honor before returning home to build a life centered around faith, hard work, and family. For over three decades, Gerald operated a private transportation service, taking great pride in the relationships he built and the reliability he offered to those he served.He was a man of many simple joys — hunting in the quiet woods, tinkering under the hood of a car, mowing his lawn just the way he liked it, and, above all, spending time with his family. Few things brought him more satisfaction than sitting down to a home-cooked meal made by Janie, his beloved wife and partner in life.Gerald was the steadfast patriarch of the McGinnis family — a man who led by example and lived to serve others. Whether family or stranger, Gerald would give without hesitation, always ready to lend a hand or an ear.He is survived by his loving wife, Janie McGinnis; his brother, Carol(Sarah) McGinnis; his children, Stan McGinnis and Shelby Kimura; his grandchildren, Matthew, Shey, Allie, and Danielle; and his great-grandchildren, Mason, Aspen, and Collins.He was preceded in death by his parents, AJ and Imogene McGinnis, and his brothers, Jerry and Harold McGinnis.In accordance with Gerald’s wishes, a private celebration of life will be held with his immediate family.Gerald McGinnis leaves behind a legacy of quiet courage, deep integrity, and unwavering love. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew him
