Gilford Lee Miller
Gilford Lee Miller, age 70, of Dawsonville, GA, passed away surrounded by his loving family on August 4, 2026. Born on September 5, 1955, at Crawford Long Hospital in Atlanta, GA, to the late James and Mary Miller, Gilford grew up in Doraville and Norcross before eventually settling in Forsyth County to raise his family.
Known to most as "Gip" or "Gilligan," he was the quintessential strong, quiet type. He didn’t always have a lot to say and was never the loudest voice in the room, but when he spoke, everyone listened. His legendary work ethic was forged early in life, working hard in the fields and on the farm as a young boy. That drive never faded—he worked tirelessly every single day until his body simply wouldn't let him any longer.
In his younger years, Gip enjoyed hunting and fishing. One of his absolute proudest moments was the day he shot a massive 16-point buck right from the cab of his truck while on his lunch break. Beyond the woods, he loved hot rods, NASCAR, and prided himself on his skill in the construction industry, where he was recognized as a superior front-end loader operator.
Above all, Gip’s life was defined by his devotion to providing for his family and his unconditional love for his wife and partner of nearly 50 years, Teresa Lynn Miller. He loved her endlessly and would stop at nothing to make her happy.
He is survived by his life partner, Teresa Miller; his son Brian Miller and wife Melissa; his daughter Terri Hester and husband Matt; and his youngest daughter Jennifer Banks (Miller). He leaves behind his beloved grandchildren: Cody Scott Miller and Kaylee Nicole Miller; Dakota Lively and wife Kayla; Griffin and Lyncoln Bagwell (Hester); and Khloe Grace Smith (Banks). He is also survived by his precious great-grandchildren, Ella (9), Easton (7), Eden (4), and Everett (1); his brother Ronnie Miller and family; his sister Nancy Fain and family; and his youngest sister Alice Gilbert and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mary Miller.
Memorial services are scheduled for 11:00 AM Saturday, August 15, 2026, in the Chapel of Ingram Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM prior to the service.
