Granville Herriot Pennington, of Cumming, GA, formerly of Jacksonville, FL, passed away at home on Monday, October, 20, 2025. Born in Brooklyn, NY on January 28, 1935 the son of Granville Sr. and Mildred Linden Pennington.

Dad was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Patricia Ann Sample Pennington, he is survived by three daughters, Susan, Linda and Janet; seven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren with a great-great grandchild due in February.

Having serviced two years with the US Army, a member of the 3rd. Inf. Regmt., the U.S. Army Honor Guard at Ft. Myer, Arlington, VA. and Arlington National Cemetery. PFC Pennington had the distinction of being the first soldier of the month in the 3rd infantry's new competition. He surpassed 1,400 other Pvt's and PFC's throughout the regiment in winning the coveted award.

After his military service, Dad had worked over 50 years in the grocery industry. In his younger days, he was a volunteer fireman in Brentwood, NY. for many years.

Dad was a proud man of both his family and his military service. He will be missed!
