Imogene C Otwell

Imogene Cowart Otwell of Cumming, Georgia passed away peacefully on July 30, 2026, at the age of 86. She was preceded in death by her parents, Isaiah Cowart and Cora Dobson Cowart, her husband, Robert Brown Otwell, sister in law Martha Fowler, and brother in law Gene Fowler.

Imogene was born on November 12, 1939, in Canton, Georgia and graduated from Cumming High School. After graduation, Imogene was employed by Life Insurance Company of Georgia in Atlanta. She married Robert in 1969, and after the birth of their son, Brent, she devoted her time to caring for him and supporting Robert in his education career and as he served as superintendent of Forsyth County Schools. She later returned to work as a teller at Regions Bank and remained there until her retirement. She loved interacting with her coworkers and clients each day, and enjoyed ‘cutting up’ with everyone. Imogene was a founding member of Cumming Baptist Church, where she served with a glad heart. She had many fond memories of hosting Sunday School gatherings at her home with dear friends. Her greatest joy was being Grammy to her grandchildren, Katherine and RC. She loved spending time with them and giving them hugs and sweet treats.

She is survived by her son and daughter in law, Robert Brent and Melissa Cain Otwell, grandchildren Katherine and RC Otwell, niece Laura Mason (Tom), nephew Walter Fowler (Nancy), great nephews Colin Thornton (Raleigh) and Matt Parks (Joy),and great nieces Ginnie Small and Angie Masand (Prakash), as well as many cousins.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 8, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Ingram Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be the same day from 9:00-11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Sawnee View Gardens.
