Irma Smith lewis

Irma Smith Lewis, age 91, transitioned peacefully on October 22, 2025 surrounded by her family. She had experienced a short period of failing health when God called her home.

Irma is survived her son, Robert and wife, Suzi; daughter, Laura and husband, Ray Robinson; grandchildren, Michelle (Kyle) Kinsey and Jimmy (Alexa) Lewis; great-granddaughters, Landers, Owens, Parrish and Mary Blake Kinsey. She is preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, James (Jim) R. Lewis, Jr.; daughter, Sharon Smith Lewis, and parents, Reverend Horace L. and Irene Berry Smith.

Irma was born in Cleveland, TN, spent much of her formative years in Canton, NC and lived most of her life in Asheville, NC. Irma and Jim relocated to Cumming, GA in 2012 to be with family. She graduated from Canton High School and Western Carolina University. Irma retired from the National Climatic Data Center (part of NOAA) after many years of organizational leadership. Irma was a member of Johns Creek Baptist Church.

Private funeral services will be held at the Georgia National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family asks for contributions to be made to Johns Creek Baptist Church designated for the Worship and Music Ministry in memory of Irma.
