Ivon Dean Jennings

Ivon Dean Jennings, age 82 of Cumming, Georgia passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 14, 2023. He was born in Cumming, Georgia and was a lifelong resident of Forsyth County. 

Ivon was a hardworking, overall-wearing, small town southern man who enjoyed the simpler things in life. For most of his career, he was a truck driver for Frito Lay. He loved working with horses and mules and was a skilled craftsman that enjoyed building wagons in his spare time. In his later years, his hobbies included watching NASCAR and the Braves play baseball. 

Ivon has been many things to many people throughout the years, but of all his roles, being a Pawpaw was his favorite. He never failed to make you laugh with his quick wit or one of his many stories from his cowboy and truck driving days. He was strong, yet gentle, and would drop everything in a second to help someone in their time of need. There are no words that can adequately express what he meant to those who loved him. He had a heart of gold and will be missed tremendously.

Ivon is preceded in death by his parents, Harrison and Jewell Jennings; daughter, Elizabeth Nicole Jennings; brother, Dennis Jennings,sister, Burma Westray, and Father-in-law, Lynn Woodall .

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Sandra Jennings; daughters, Lori Jennings and Cassie Jennings; grandchildren, Ian and Adrian Gilstrap, Elijah and Courtney Gilstrap and Mason Dean; great grandchildren, Sammy, Marley, Carson and Lila; sister, Brenda & George Bewley and Mother-in-law Louise Woodall, along with many other beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. 

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 19, 2023, in the chapel of Ingram Funeral Home at 2:00 pm in Cumming, GA with Rev. Harold Bottoms, Rev. Shane Milford and Rev. Sam Rickett officiating. Interment will follow at Sawnee View Gardens in Cumming, GA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm.  Ingram Funeral Home & Crematory.
