With the heaviest of hearts, we announce the passing of Jacqueline “Jackie” Haughey Sexton, age 75, of Cumming, Georgia. Jackie passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 22, 2026.
Jackie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister. She was cherished by her family and loved by many. Her legacy of love, humor, and kindness will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her.
Born in Pendleton, Indiana on January 28, 1951, Jackie moved to Georgia in 1984. She married her loving husband, Billy Sexton, on December 28, 1993. Jackie was an inspiring elementary school teacher for 17 years, teaching at Black's Mill Elementary School, a role that allowed her to fulfill her passion for teaching children to read. She earned a four-year degree in early childhood education from Brenau University and later obtained a master's degree from North Georgia College, further enriching her ability to nurture young minds.
Jackie was preceded in death by her parents, Robert L. Haughey and Mary Alice Gunn of Indiana. She is survived by her beloved husband, Billy Sexton, and her daughter and son-in-law, Desha and Lee Draughon. Her memory will also be carried on by Desha’s children, Ashley Whitfield, Matthew Crane, Megan Crane, and Isabella Hill, as well as her great-grandchildren, Ayden Whaley, Amyah Whaley, Asiah Franklin, and Langston Crane.
Jackie is also survived by her stepson, Tyler Sexton, and his wife, Leigh, along with their children, Foster and Emma Kate; and stepson Trent Sexton and his wife, Ashley, with their children, Harper and Hayden. In addition, Jackie is survived by her sister-in-law Linda Roper and her late husband Eddie; and her brother-in-law Jerry Sexton and his wife Anne. She will be deeply missed by her sister, Jane Ladas, and her late husband, Christ Ladas, as well as Jane’s sons Jeff Farris and his late wife Jill, and Jeff’s son Bobby Farris. Jackie’s memory will be cherished by Jane’s other son Kevin Ladas and his wife Mitsu, and Kevin’s son Christian Ladas.
In addition to her immediate family, Jackie leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family, as well as a wide circle of friends who were all touched by her warmth and generosity.
Jackie’s devotion to her family, her nurturing spirit, and her ability to light up any room will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her passing leaves an irreplaceable void, but her legacy of love, support, and laughter will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
A celebration of Jackie’s life will be held on Sunday, April 19th, at 2:00 PM in the Ingram Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
Jackie’s presence may no longer be with us, but her memory will remain a guiding light in the lives she touched.
