With heavy hearts we announce the passing of James Elbert Carter, age 89, originally of Canton, Georgia. Elbert was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who touched the lives of many with his kindness, wisdom, and unwavering love for his family.
Elbert was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Elizabeth Terry Carter; his son, Terry Carter; and his daughter, Tammy Carter. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Irene Dobson, JV Carter, Avie White, Arthur Lee Carter, Clinton Carter, and Joyce Carter. He is survived by his sister, Cora Jean Goodwin, as well as numerous nieces and nephews who cherished him dearly. Elbert also leaves behind his adopted family, who held a special place in his heart.
Elbert's legacy of love, strength, and dedication to his family will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. A memorial service to celebrate Elbert's life will be held at Ingram Funeral Home in Cumming Georgia Saturday December 7th at 11am and visitation will be held at Ingram’s on Friday December 6th from 5pm-8pm. Immediately following the memorial service, a grave side service will be held at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in Cumming, Georgia.
