James Quentin Evans known as ( “Dita” ) to his beloved grandchildren, entered his Heavenly home on the morning of April 28, 2025. Quentin was born on October 9, 1947, to his parents James Lee Evans and Martha Ann Wallace Evans in Atlanta, Georgia. He is preceded in death by both of his parents.
Quentin is remembered by those who loved him as a true outdoorsman. He was a member of the National Wild Turkey Federation and an avid hunter and fisherman. He shared the love of God with his family by teaching his own love for the art of marksmanship and by instilling in his children and grandchildren a true love and wonder for God’s beautiful animals and all of creation.
“Dita” cherished every single moment he could spend with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. They and his wife Lauri and his children were the light of his life.
Quentin graduated from Georgia Tech with a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. During his professional career, Quentin spent multiple years working in Australia for Bell South designing fiber optics networks for the Telecom industry. During his 50 year career in the telecommunication industry, Quentin became affectionately known by his co-workers and clients as “The Legend”. He was both a creator and a “solver”. There was no engineering feat to great or too small that he did not love solve. Even for years after his retirement, Quentin would receive calls from his former co-workers and clients asking for advice.
Quentin is survived by his wife of 42 years, Lauri Ingram Evans; their children, James Quentin Evans Jr (Jim), (Tammy), Adam Evans (Katie) and John Evans (Catherine); his sister Carla Higgins (Steve); his grandchildren, Dean Evans, Autumn Evans, James Q Evans III, Justin Evans, Kinsley Evans; and his one great-grandchild, Nick Evans, and several beloved nieces and nephews.
Our family is truly blessed and grateful to God to have had such a wonderful man as a model of true love.
A celebration of life of Quentin Evans will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, in the chapel of Ingram Funeral Home with Phillip Connell officiating. The Evans family will be accepting visitors on the day of the service from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider honoring Quentin’s life in supporting a tribute for his granddaughter Autumn Evans in her journey with autism.
