Jan and Dale settled in Dundee, Michigan, where they built a life together and remained for 50 years, forming lasting friendships and deep ties within the community. Jan dedicated 32 years of service as Township Treasurer, while Dale served the Dundee Fire Department for 35 years, including 14 years as Fire Chief. Their commitment to public service left a lasting impact on those around them.

In 2008, Jan and Dale retired and moved to Georgia to be closer to their son, Al, and his family.
