Janet Dorothy Goetz, age 92, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 30, in Canton, Georgia.
Jan was born on August 2, 1933, in St. Petersburg, Nebraska, to George and Leona Mannlein. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dale Goetz; her parents; her brothers, Ray, Joe, and Jerry Mannlein; and her sister, Ann Krupp.
During her early years, Jan’s family relocated to Milan, Michigan, where she later met the love of her life, Dale. They were married on January 20, 1958, beginning a devoted partnership that spanned many decades.
Jan and Dale settled in Dundee, Michigan, where they built a life together and remained for 50 years, forming lasting friendships and deep ties within the community. Jan dedicated 32 years of service as Township Treasurer, while Dale served the Dundee Fire Department for 35 years, including 14 years as Fire Chief. Their commitment to public service left a lasting impact on those around them.
In 2008, Jan and Dale retired and moved to Georgia to be closer to their son, Al, and his family. Jan is lovingly remembered by her son, Al Goetz (Cathy); her daughter, Marty Goetz; her grandchildren, Justin Goetz; Megan (Carter) Austin; Kyle, Joel, and Owen Johnson; Danyelle (Ronnie) Lowrey; and Melissa Goetz; as well as four great-grandchildren and many cherished nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Ingram Funeral Home in Cumming, Georgia. Burial will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia.
Jan had a special love for animals, especially her beloved cats, Momma Cat and Charlie. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in her memory to Angels Among Us Pet Rescue at https://angelsrescue.org/. Please select the “Dedicate My Donation” option when contributing.
Jan will be remembered for her kindness, dedication to her community, and deep love for her family. Her legacy lives on in all who knew and loved her.
