Jeremy C. Harvey

Jeremy Cade Harvey was born on December 15, 1972 to David and Karen Harvey of Rochester, Minnesota.  He was a bright, happy, funny, and talkative child who entertained family, friends, and even strangers as he grew up.  He spent his childhood in Rochester with his parents and older sister Jodi and younger brother Jeff.  He was confirmed at age 12 in the United Presbyterian Church in Rochester.

During his school years he developed a strong love of the outdoors and excelled as an athlete in golf, basketball, baseball, football, snow skiing, and water sports.  In 1982 he attended school along with his siblings in Westport, Connecticut for one year while his father was on assignment for IBM in New York.  His family left Rochester and moved to Raleigh, North Carolina in 1986 where Jeremy attended high school graduating from Millbrook High in 1990.

After high school he worked construction in the Raleigh area until deciding on a career path in the golf industry.  He attended Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in Tifton, Georgia where he graduated with a degree in Turfgrass and Golf Course Management.  Following graduation he spent a year selling advanced technology aeration equipment before accepting jobs as an assistant superintendent at multiple Atlanta area golf courses.  This experience lead to his first job as superintendent at Plantation Golf Club in Maumelle, Arkansas.

As Jeremy's career, contacts, and knowledge of the golf industry expanded he was offered and accepted a job in regional sales and consulting for turf management products, initially for Griggs Brothers and then later for Ameriturf where he had responsibility for Atlanta, North Alabama, and Tennessee.  Over his career with Ameriturf he was recognized multiple times for top sales performance.

In 2001 Jeremy relocated from Arkansas to Georgia.  He established a residence in Cumming and  married and in 2005 had a daughter, Grace Harvey, who became his pride and joy and the focus of his life.  He put exceptional thought and energy into parenting and was a constant presence in Grace's development as a person and an athlete.

In 2007, while maintaining his career focus in sales and consulting, Jeremy joined forces with 3 other investors, including his brother Jeff, to form an LLC to acquire Good Ol' Days Bar and Grill.  This was a high risk period in the food and beverage industry because of the Great Recession of 2008 but through creativity and hard work the business survived and grew to make Good Ol' Days one of the top entertainment venues in North Georgia.

In 2014 Jeremy married Beth Rider Westbrooks and formed a blended family with his daughter Grace and Beth's two daughters Avery and Alden. They purchased a new home in the country and the girls pursued their education at West Forsyth High School as Beth earned her government clearance to work in the court system handling Social Security Administration disability claims.

In 2017 Jeremy suffered a major heart attack that kept him from his career for several months and ultimately would limit his ability to travel extensively.  Through sheer willpower, love of his family and commitment to his daughter Grace, he fought through a medical prognosis for a life span measured in months and continued on for over five years maintaining his sales and consulting work and even taking a second job as assistant superintendent at Iron Horse Golf Club.  He said the second job allowed him to relax and enjoy the early morning with nature.  He maintained his work at two jobs and his ownership stake in Good Ol' Days until his death on August 29, 2022.

Throughout his life he was known for his intellect, his technical knowledge, his keen sense of humor, his strong opinions, and his commitment to his family.  He was self-taught in nearly every aspect of life and generally had his own way of doing everything.  He loved problem solving of all kinds and would never admit to having “read the instructions”.

He is survived by his wife Beth, his daughter Grace, his step-daughters Avery and Alden, his parents David and Karen Harvey, his sister Jodi Currin (Alex), his brother Jeffrey Harvey (Katherine), his uncle Jim Harvey (Lisa), and many cousins and other relatives.
