Jerry Augustus Hughes

Jerry A. Hughes, age 85, of Cumming, Georgia, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2025. Born on September 5, 1939, in Cumming, Jerry was a lifelong resident of the community he loved and called home.

Jerry was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose life was marked by his love for family and his faith. He is preceded in death by his son, Matthew Hughes; his sister, Joann Hughes; and his parents, Newman and Olure Hughes.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Shirley Hughes; his daughter and son-in-law, Tracy and Dennis Ingram; his grandchildren, Jennifer (Eric) Edwards, Whittany (Paul) Moore, and Mallorie (Payton) Kent; and his great-grandchildren, Emma and Rhett Edwards, Caroline and Cody Moore, and Wesley Kent, Maddux Kent coming soon. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Mary Jo (Dale) Jensen and Judy Whitt, along with a number of nieces, nephews, and other relatives who will carry his memory in their hearts.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, from 2:00–4:00 PM and again from 6:00–8:00 PM, as well as on Thursday, May 29, 2025, from 1:00 PM until the hour of service.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, May 29, 2025, in the chapel of Ingram Funeral Home in Cumming, Georgia, with Rev. Jerry Orr and Rev. Rainey Roden officiating. Interment will follow at Sawnee View Memorial Gardens.

Jerry will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his legacy of love, strength, and kindness will live on in the lives of those he touched
